The Microbiologist will contribute to the delivery of a microbiology programme that enables the AWC SBU to design and commercialise new products. The main purpose of the role is to apply technical/scientific expertise to the resolution of microbiology issues.

 

 

Main responsibilities include

 

  • Microbiology Research and Testing – Plan and conduct a variety of experiments and tests using best practice methods in support of designated new product developments. Involves working to agreed schedules that support challenging project timeframes
  • Data analysis and reporting - Using agreed formats, record experimental data and prepare reports on work undertaken. This includes presenting initial analysis, conclusions and recommendations as a basis for further discussion and research
  • Problem Resolution - Work to resolve technical/scientific problems in a timely manner by collaborating with other wound biology functional experts. Participate in related discussions that identify relevant theory and practical interventions
  • Functional/Technical Expertise - Develop and maintain understanding of the latest microbiology theories and research initiatives and make recommendations internally about any related changes to current methods and working practices. Develop and share expert functional knowledge, educating individuals across both NPD and the wider AWC team. Maintain a network of internal contacts who can defer to for advice when appropriate

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience:

  • Degree required in relevant scientific discipline
  • Experience of microbiology research and development ideally in a commercial environment
  • Knowledge/experience of microbiology testing methodologies, standards and best practice
  • Ability to clearly convey technical information and ideas to a variety of individuals and groups with different levels of understanding
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment in a complex matrix organization with minimal supervision/guidance from management
  • Must work in strict accordance with the policies and procedures of BS EN ISO9001 and GLP
  • Computer literate with specific knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
