Hull has a beautiful city centre with incredible buildings and fantastic heritage. I chose to buy a cottage here, it’s a beautiful part of the world. I'm a really big walker and love being outside, having the Yorkshire Wolds on my doorstep is amazing...It is one of the most beautiful parts of the world. There are some amazing properties here, it’s one of the big growth areas … a good area to invest in.

Hull is a great working class city and deserves its title as UK City of Culture 2017. Hull has something really special about it. It is the end of the road. Nobody just passes through. But that’s what makes the place stand out.

Every time I have a few days off or need a break I will visit home. I love having that quality time with my brothers and sister and living in London I miss the Lincolnshire countryside. The support from North East Lincolnshire has been overwhelming. My fans back home really inspire me to carry on. You can't beat Grimsby's support. I am so proud to be from this place.

Commercially and industrially it makes absolute sense to be in Hull. I live just six miles from Hull and couldn't be happier. It has character, vibrancy, a fantastic university, a thriving arts scene and lots of young people feeling positive about its future. Property prices are low, from Victorian splendour to trendy dockside flats. You can snap up a great family home for under £100,000 – almost unheard of elsewhere. From any point in the city centre you can be in the countryside in just ten minutes – a plus for which city dwellers in London or Manchester would pay a fortune.
