AAK Hull is located in the heart of an area enjoying significant redevelopment and investment.

The Port of Hull is being established as a world-class centre for renewable energy and manufacturing, and at AAK we feel proud to be part of this important industrial renaissance for Yorkshire and the UK.

 At our recently upgraded site at King George Dock we operate the UK’s largest refinery for edible oils and fats. We supply businesses in the sectors of food manufacturing, baking, Foodservice and retail, and we work closely with customers to co-develop bespoke products.

About the role

AAK are seeking to appoint a Bakery Technician to join the Customer Innovation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for experimenting with new ingredients to make new and innovative products.


  • Experimenting with new ingredients to find new and innovative methods of creating products.
  • Conducting testing, including taste and observations whilst baking, on products created to ensure they meet specification and to determine the optimum ingredients used.
  • Following recipes to bake products as per customer request.
  • Preparing presentations for customers based on the outcome of products tested.
  • Operating pilot plant equipment.
  • Creating and maintaining a catalogue of results for experiments conducted.
  • Assisting the Sampling Department during busy periods.

About you

  • Experience working within a similar role or bakery related qualification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate at all levels.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Able to generate new and innovative ideas and find areas for improvement.
  • Computer literate.
  • Comfortable managing and working to deadlines.
