You will continuously assess and develop Vivergo’s EC&I systems to ensure legislative compliance and continuously improved plant reliability.

It is a requirement that the job holder will have significant experience in functional safety and the practical implementation of IEC 61508 and 61511 throughout the system lifecycle along with general electrical, control and instrumentation experience in a large process industry. Specific experience on a COMAH site is desirable.

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience required

  • Functional Safety Knowledge: The job holder will have substantial experience in this area and be fully familiar with the requirements of IEC 61508 and 61511 and the practical implementation of those standards on a major process plant. The job holder will be expected to be the Vivergo Lead Engineer for this area.
  • Control and Instrumentation Knowledge: It is essential the job holder has a comprehensive understanding of this area. Vivergo use Emerson Delta V DCS and Siemens PLC systems so specific experience in these systems is desirable.
  • Electrical Knowledge: It is desirable for the job holder to have a good understanding of both LV and HV systems.
  • UK Legislation regarding the EC&I function and the practical implementation of that legislation.

Personal attributes

  • Able to work efficiently in a team environment and possess a level of communication and interpersonal skills that will facilitate working closely with operations engineers, design engineers, and staff responsible for purchasing.
  • Creative problem solving will be required to be able to work with high level hardware and software.
  • Project management skills are essential.
  • The incumbent will have extensive experience of working in a similar position on a large scale manufacturing site (ideally COMAH), with a track record of delivery proven over a number of years and will be fully familiar with the legislative requirements to ensure E,C and I compliance.
  • It is expected that the Job Holder will hold a Degree in an Electrical / Instrument Engineering discipline or be able to demonstrate equivalent technical knowledge via work experience / other qualifications. Ideally the job holder will be a Chartered Engineer.
  • The role requires good verbal, written and presentation skills, in order to be able to communicate effectively at all levels
