Background and Context

The School of the Arts is a multi-disciplinary School with subject areas that include Drama, Digital Media, Film Studies, Game Design, Music and Music Technology. The post holder will mainly work within the Screen area of the School. The Screen team compromises of 13 staff across a range of different specialisms from game design, media production, and film studies. This post is also part of a wider team of seven specialist academic support staff across the school and each section has a technical lead. There are occasions when the post-holder will need to contribute to school-level collaborative projects.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the post

The duties associated within the role are divided between delivering workshops at undergraduate level and providing technical support and maintenance to the digital labs within the school and wider faculty. The types of topics covered in the workshops include the following areas: 3D Asset Design; Game Engines; 2D Art for Games; 3D Character Animation/Design; and more general media applications. The role holder will also offer support and guidance for technical projects for colleagues within the faculty for both teaching and research projects under the guidance of the technical manager for the area.
