Can you use communications and marketing to tell the story of the Humber, the UK’s Energy Estuary, on the regional, national and international stage?

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to contribute to raising the profile of the region to attract investment and talent. You’ll be part of a small team, and you will have the opportunity to identify opportunities to work with our businesses and stakeholders across all sectors to raise the profile of the Humber on the international stage.  We have exciting campaigns, a full events programme, and a wealth of marketing activities to develop for the 2019 plan and you would have an important role to help shape the creation and delivery of these.

The Organisation:

Marketing Humber is a powerful network of businesses, our Bondholders, dedicated to the promotion of the Humber region. These companies range from major multi-nationals to start-ups and fast-growing entrepreneurial businesses who have committed to being ambassadors and help the Humber region compete for inward investment.

In the next two years the Humber, the UK’s Energy Estuary, will continue to be firmly in the spotlight, as many investments come to fruition and Hull moves into building the legacy from the activities of Hull 2017 as the UK’s City of Culture.  It is a crucial time for Marketing Humber to maximise opportunities that lie ahead and contribute to the Industrial Strategy for our region. By developing the profile and reputation of the Humber amongst key audiences, we can help the region attract further investment and fill jobs with the best candidates to create a thriving environment for our businesses to operate.

You will have the opportunity to shape and deliver marketing communications in a challenging and fast-moving environment, making strong contributions to support the strategy of the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and our regional Local Authorities.

The role:

  • You will lead on the online presence for Marketing Humber (the BondholderScheme), keeping news just a click away from an investor thinking of bringing jobs to the region, as well as keeping the leaders and employees of the Humber informed of new developments.   This will require a strong level of copy-writing and first class, professional marketing communications
  • You will be required to develop websites, including marketinghumber.com & investhumber.com, working with external agencies to keep it innovative, creative and user friendly.  This goes hand in hand with the maintenance of information on a daily basis, posting news and creating case studies
  • Integrated communications will be at the heart of everything you do. From online to print, from creating displays to running social media campaigns, you will promote the opportunities of the Humber through all marketing channels
  • You will be the key contact for media, producing press releases and coordinating support of our programme, activities and campaigns on a regional, national and international level
  • You will build close relationships with key contacts in order to deliver joint communications on behalf of the Humber
  • You will be an ambassador for the Humber and identify opportunities for us to build more advocates
  • We’re a tight-knit team, which does give the opportunity to get involved in a little of everything.  This will include reporting, ensuring our contact database is up to date and supporting event management during peak times of activity

Essential capabilities/experience:

  • Experience in both traditional and digital marketing
  • Experience in copywriting with a compelling track record in delivering engaging and impactful communications, from print to websites, email communications, event promotion to 280-character tweets
  • Experience in developing brand
  • Experience using cms and crm systems
  • Experience in PR and social media campaigns
  • Experience working with and briefing third party service providers and agencies to deliver marketing materials to plan
  • The ability to build relationships with colleagues and business leaders alike, with a confidence to influence and shape the programme of delivery
  • Minimum 2 yrs experience in a marketing and/or communications role

 Desirable capabilities/experience:

  • Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience of operating within a client-facing environment
  • Experience of business development in a membership organisation

What we’re looking for in you:

  • Energy and drive, with a proactive approach to work
  • Creative thinking and a can-do attitude
  • High standards of delivery and a completer/finisher when it comes to projects
  • Passion to be an ambassador for the Humber and the businesses, both great and small, that are the backbone of our economy and future

 Additional requirements:

  • Driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to work flexibly to provide support for events; some early morning and late evening work is occasionally required.

In return, Marketing Humber will offer:

  • Competitive salary
  • 25 Days Annual Leave plus bank holidays
  • Contributory Pension
  • Training to enhance your career
