The post holder will play a key role in information governance activities across the Council, but will specialise in freedom of information related work. They will manage the freedom of information request process, working closely with all services across the Council to ensure that information is located and released in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act. They will provide advice to staff and applicants making requests on a daily basis and be the first point of call for freedom of information related activity. In addition to this they will support both the Council’s data protection function and corporate Feedback system (complaints, compliments and comments). The post holder will become part of a well-established team helping to further strengthening the Council’s compliance with statutory obligations.

The post holder will be part of the Councils Information Governance and Feedback Team helping to ensure ongoing compliance across the Council services on Information Governance matters. Specifically coordinating the management and response of freedom of Information requests. The role will be specifically responsible for ensuring the Freedom of Information Act is complied with and deadlines are met. They will provide daily advice to all levels of staff and deal with applicants on freedom of information related matters. Providing reports and information routinely and on request to ensure compliance. They will also taking an active role in both records management and data protection areas.
