HOTA (Humberside Offshore Training Association Ltd) is seeking to appoint a Manager to serve as Head of its Training Unit. This exciting opportunity would suit applicants with an extensive knowledge of quality/auditing procedures and experience in a training environment.  Experience of the Offshore, Maritime and/or Renewable Industries at a senior level would be advantageous. The key role of this position is to manage the operation of the Training Unit across HOTA’s three sites in Hull.

The role will also (but not exclusively) include the following as required:

  • Implement the agreed programme of courses as directed by the Chief Executive.
  • Maximise the utilisation of the Training Unit facilities.
  • Write, develop and amend courses to Industry Standards.
  • Ensure that training is carried out to the Governing Bodies standards at all times.
  • Identify the training needs of new customers as required.
  • Manage external contractors and assessors as required.
  • Ensure Quality, Health, Environment and Safety procedures are implemented at all times.
  • Manage HOTA’s team of instructor’s inc. undertaking personal development reviews.
  • Establish and maintain a rolling schedule of all audits for the business feeding back results to the appropriate managers.
  • Dealing with all external audits and governing bodies.
  • You will be responsible for the management of the ISO 9001 system and the migration to ISO 9001:2015

The appointment will be at Manager Level and it will be permanent subject to satisfactory performance and a 6 month probationary period. The post reports directly to the Chief Executive.

The successful applicant will have the following proven experiences and characteristics:

Essential

  • Previous successful management experience
  • Proven leadership skills at a senior level
  • A background and relevant qualification in assessing/auditing business procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of ISO9001:2008

Desirable

  • Previous knowledge and experience of working in the Offshore and/or Maritime/Renewables Industries
  • Experience in a Training Environment with knowledge of working and complying with course standards  
  • Ability to set high individual and team standards.
  • Excellent timely delivery against business targets.
  • Ability to manage relationships with tact and sensitivity.
  • Excellent team player, committed to helping staff build their careers within an organisation.
  • Good networking skills.

Preferable

  • Experience of compliance with a number of Approving Governing Authorities

i.e. City & Guilds, MCA, OPITO, NEBOSH, IOSH, Qualsafe
