  • Manage ER case load across our operational functions.
  • Responsible for the absence attendance management process, generating reports, identifying/investigating trends and producing statistics in partnership with Occupational Health to effectively manage both short and long term absence.
  • Support operational change management projects, including restructures and redundancy scenarios.
  • Play a key role in the trade union relationships, enabling effective negotiation and a partnered approach will all recognised unions.
  • Coordinate and assist in the recruitment process, creating job descriptions, job adverts and supporting in interviews where appropriate.
  • Develop, review and analyse policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment legislative changes and local union agreements.
  • Maintain people records ensuring they are GDPR compliant.
  • Conduct annual agency audits, playing a key role in the agency relationship and ensuring the effective provision of temporary staff.
  • Cover for the People Administrator during annual leave and periods of absence to ensure payroll reporting is accurate in line with deadlines.

About You

Given the cross-functional nature of the role, you will be extremely personable with a great sense of humour, a real people person, being able to communicate at all levels and influence without authority.

Previous HR experience and exposure to payroll systems is essential. You may have already attained your CIPD Level 5 or 7 or may be working towards your qualification.

Why Jacksons?

Jacksons is part of William Jackson Food Group, a sixth generation family business founded by William Jackson when he opened his first shop in Hull in September 1851. Today we have a portfolio of five food businesses in distinct, yet complimentary market areas, employing over 2,000 people. We also have a pub!

We have occupied the current site in Hull since 1907 and we now have 3 bread plants in our main bakery. We recently developed a second bakery, also at our site in Hull, which specialises in premium quality roll, wrap and ciabatta production.

We specialise in the supply of bread and other carriers to the sandwich manufacturers, foodservice and export channels, and in 2012 we launched our consumer facing brand “Jackson’s Yorkshire’s Champion”.

We’re building a new site in Corby, one of the largest investments our Group has ever made, and this will allow us to realise our ambition of being the best at what we do.

2018 is an exciting time to join us!

Please note we reserve the right to close this recruitment campaign before the advertised closing date. As such, we advise you to submit your application at the earliest opportunity to avoid disappointment.
