One of KIDS’ key priorities is to develop our work with young disabled people ensuring that they have the opportunity to make informed decisions about services that will enable them to lead more ordinary lives. Young people will be supported to develop their own identity, sense of independence and ambition with a view to influence local policy.
The co-ordinator will work in partnership with young people with a diverse range of disabilities to develop young people’s participation work, coordinate and facilitate regular young people’s participation groups and focus groups and work with professionals from a range of agencies to champion young people’s participation.
The successful applicant will also be required to support with the delivery of training, provide information and publicity regarding the project and to keep and maintain accurate records and files for monitoring and evaluation of the project. The ability to work under pressure is essential and knowledge of issues relating to disabled children and families would be preferable.
Excellent communication skills are essential, and strong organisational and IT skills are also extremely essential.
KIDS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, therefore we expect all workers and employees to share this commitment.
