Experience will be essential in keeping up to date with national policy developments and case law, and with best practice nationally and regionally, in order to provide expert advice and guidance to contribute to the development of HSCB guidelines, procedures and practice advice.

You will possess a highly developed knowledge and experience of developing service plans to meet strategic business goals to ensure compliance with all internal and external standards. Ensuring  expert professional advice, interpretation, information, support and challenge are provided to colleagues in the wider directorate and external parties on the full range of operational, legislative and strategic issues within the field of expertise is expected.  An up to date knowledge and experience of relevant strategic and operational input is needed to provide to wider business planning and development, including liaison/links with wider partners and health services.

You will be experienced in implementing  a risk management programme and be able to confidently advise on issues affecting Local Authority service areas ensuring that business threatening situations are recognised, planned for and managed or escalated as appropriate and that the systems and governance are in place to and respond promptly to critical events.

The applicant will have extensive experience in managing the responses to complex professional or politically sensitive issues within the area of responsibility. Expert opinion, advice and interpretation will need to be provided on all aspects of the area of responsibility, including major decisions about the lives of clients. An ability to manage major issues through to an appropriate conclusion and ensure that a feedback and complaints procedure is developed and managed ensuring that complaints are effectively resolved is essential.
