We are currently looking for an experienced Project Engineering Manager to join our Operations team in Hull. The successful candidate will manage a team of Project Engineers involved in delivering complex engineering projects and provide a significant contribution towards AWM’s Manufacturing Strategy.

Essential Job Functions

  • To apply high standards of Occupational Health & Safety in the workplace in accordance with statutory and regulatory standards, procedures and systems, to comply with Company and Business policy and procedures.
  • To promote and where appropriate create and implement health and safety policies and procedures.
  • To perform all activities in compliance with relevant GMP and Quality Systems standards and specifically with FDA Quality System Regulation and ISO13485.
  • To drive high standards by continuously seeking and rolling out best practice.
  • To maintain an awareness of the external regulatory landscape in order to ensure that constraints or opportunities relating to geography and regulatory approvals are understood and managed as part of the development of the strategy.
  • To play a key role in the development of the AWM’s Manufacturing Strategy, aligning key resources and business case development for the Senior Leadership Teams.
  • To execute business critical engineering projects to support new product introductions.
  • To accurately forecast and manage both CapEx and Revenue budgets for multiple projects.
  • To proactively manage and develop the performance of direct reports and team members through performance management, calibration, resource review and planning, capability, disciplinary, training and development to meet the needs of the business.
  • To coach and develop engineering talent within the team.
  • To deputise for the Director of Project Engineering as and when required.


  • A degree in Engineering, Science or other related field and experience working within an engineering/technical role.
  • Experience in project delivery, Medical Device arena is preferred.
  • Project management experience across a broad range of project types (including manufacturing process equipment and new product development and introduction).
  • Knowledge and experience of the requirements of manufacturing assets and facilities associated with the manufacture of wound management devices.
  • Experience of line management of direct reports
  • Ability to delegate effectively and manage prioritisation and allocation of resources and to coach and develop members of the team.
  • 25% travel
